G025 Jade Carving of the Fairy with Wing Sitting in the Squatting Position  (Height: 7.30cm, Width: 3.69cm, Bottom length: 6.21cm)

Hetian jade. Green jade. It is solid, dense and moist. The fairy raised her head and looked up at the sky. She put on a hairband with carved cloud pattern on her forehead. A strand of hair curled behind her head. There was a hole in the curled hair. The cloud pattern ear still has the legacy of the Warring States period. Fairy: beautiful, dignified and serene. She is simple and elegant, pure and lovely!

Two shoulders to the back are covered with a feather wing. The center of the feather wing is raised in a shape of a pyramid. The central part is light and plain, while the shoulders on both sides are carved with Unicorn patterns on the upper end and hairline on the lower end, forming two obvious wings on the left and right sides, which is in line with the concept of "feathering to immortality" in the Han Dynasty. This concept was developed by the the Chu people’s “dragon immortality”.

Hanyu is the restoration of the religious aesthetics of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and some original favour. In the Warring States period, the theological thought was impacted, but it was reversed in the Han Dynasty, and the theological thought was rampant, which can be proved by the fairy sculpture!
Fairy: the jacket is lapped on the right, and the belly is decorated with a dress belt; the left hand is bent upward, and the palm of the hand is slightly bent forward; the right hand is pressed on the knee, and sits in the squatting kneeling style; there are two embossed cloud patterns near the thighs on both sides of the belly, which is the legacy of the Warring States period.             The space between the thighs and legs on both sides stretches out at the beginning of the cloud pattern, and the same wings are put on the shoulders. It is estimated that one more pair of wings can be smoother and more peaceful when flying in space!

Looking at this fairy: dignified and elegant, bright and lovely, with solid and dense jade, colorful and ancient Dun, its ancient favour and splendor are very difficult to meet! In ancient books, it is often mentioned that there was only a Taoist saying of "feathering and immortality" in the Han Dynasty, but no relic ever appeared to prove it!

The appearance of this fairy today: it can be regarded as a rare art treasure of the Han Dynasty. It provides the most precious material materials for the study of the characteristics of the times, religious beliefs and sculpture art. It is of great historical and religious significance and value!
